How to Find Rats in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check (Gray Tide)

Gray Tide Quest Board Quarantine Zone Last Check

The Gray Tide quest will be available some time after you unlock the Reflex Hammer on day 3 in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. The quest objective will be displayed on the Bulletin Board at the Checkpoint area, and will instruct players to help reduce the rat infestation around base.

Even if you have the firearm/pistol unlocked, it's essential for the mission that you get up close and smash them with the hammer.

Rat Locations Gray Tide Quarantine Zone Last Check

There are a few spots where you'll spot rats scampering around the base, and you'll hear their squeaking sound when nearby.

  1. One of the first spots is the main checkpoint area, and inside the lookout tower to the right of it.
  2. Another great spot to find rats for the Gray Tide quest in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is your living quarters. Make sure to look behind the container that you sleep in to find rats.
  3. Lastly, you'll have a high chance of spotting rats inside the Survivor Block. It's one of the largest areas of the camp, and you'll need to thoroughly check in the corners until you hear their squeaking sounds.

If you approach rats, they'll quickly scurry away before you can smash them with your hammer. To sneak up on rats before they have a chance to escape, you'll need to crouch down. Players can crouch in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check with the Left CTRL key on a keyboard. Similarly, you can press the B button on an Xbox controller or O button on a PlayStation controller to crouch.

If you're having trouble crouching down in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, you'll need to press the Shift key on the keyboard or Left Stick button on controllers to toggle off Sprint. Once the sprint is toggled off, only then will you be able to crouch down.
