Another report testifying to the existence of a new PlayStation 5 Pro model has surfaced online. The same source also claims that Sony is working on the DualSense V3 controller that will introduce a big improvement on the battery front.

The PS5 Pro launched in early November 2024, priced at $699. It's retailing at $749.99 since August 2025. In late September, reliable insider Billbil-kun reported that Sony was working on refreshing its mid-gen hardware refresh with a new variant, identified by model number CFI-7121.

PS5 Pro Refresh and a DualSense With Swappable Battery Reportedly in the Works

Adding to the original rumor, a recent report from Polish outlet PPE claims that a new PS5 Pro model is indeed in the works, while also stating that Sony is preparing a DualSense refresh to accompany it. While the yet-to-be-announced console is described as a minor revision, the new controller will supposedly offer a more substantial upgrade compared to its immediate predecessor, with PPE claiming it will incorporate a removable battery—a first for first-party PlayStation gamepads.

PS5 Pro 2025

Earlier in September, PPE leaked the arrival of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on the PS5. Its scoop materialized six days before the port was officially announced at the latest State of Play event. The source behind that leak—nicknamed Graczdari—is now being cited by the Polish outlet as the origin of its new hardware information. PPE also credits Graczdari with leaking the box of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered's physical edition prior to its reveal, adding some more weight to its latest claims.

New PS5 Pro Model Is Reportedly Marginally More Power-Efficient

According to the newly surfaced information, the purported console revision will be more power-efficient than the original PS5 Pro model. However, the difference is said to be marginal, amounting to an approximately 3% lower power draw. The console will be bundled with the DualSense V3 controller, as per the same source. The gamepad will reportedly also be sold separately and is expected to gradually replace the existing DualSense controller. PPE believes it will launch in November 2025, indicating a release just ahead of the holiday season, which has historically been the most lucrative period of the year for consumer electronics manufacturers by a significant margin.

The PS5 Pro had seven SKUs at launch: CFI-7000 (Japan), CFI-7002 (Australia), CFI-7014 (South and Central America), CFI-7019 (North America, CFI-7020 (Mexico), CFI-7021 (EMEA), and CFI-7022 (Southeast Asia). Its upcoming revision is rumored to be designated as CFI-7121. According to prior reporting by Billbil-kun, the new PS5 Pro will at the very least launch in both North America and Europe. Given the minor hardware differences from its predecessor, the release may occur with little fanfare, as Sony's manufacturing lines shift to the more power-efficient model with no consumer-facing announcements.
