Sony has released another new firmware update for its flagship console, the PlayStation 5, bringing its software to version 25.05-11.60.00 with another lackluster patch that doesn't seem to do much. The latest PlayStation 5 update can be downloaded and installed right now on the base console or on its newer, more powerful edition, the PlayStation 5 Pro.

The PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 has apparently passed a significant milestone, reportedly reached within a month of the game's Sony debut.

The April update also introduced a new PS5 Audio Focus feature, allowing players to boost certain types of audio, such as footsteps in games like Call of Duty. Unfortunately, the latest update doesn't have any exciting new features, as version 25.05-11.60.00 improves system software performance and stability, according to the official patch notes. PS5 owners will want to ensure they download and install the new software update the next time they boot up their console, but don't expect to find anything shiny and new once the update is completed. Anyone struggling to update their console can visit the official PlayStation website for troubleshooting and for a manual software download.

The PlayStation 5's latest firmware update comes less than one week after Sony released an unexpected patch for the PlayStation 4. However, similarly to the PS5's update, not much was changed. According to the patch notes for the update, Sony improved the security for the PlayStation 4's system software. Given that the console is now 12 years old, it would be unlikely for Sony to make any significant improvements to the console.

Although the latest firmware update may have come as a disappointment to PS5 owners, there's still plenty to look forward to if you're a PlayStation fan. Earlier this week, PlayStation announced it will be giving fans another chance to get their hands on the 30th Anniversary PS5 accessories later this month. Those who missed out on the limited edition PlayStation Portal, DualSense Controller, and Digital PS5 Console will have another opportunity to purchase them as Sony has confirmed that pre-orders will open on July 23, ready for a restock on September 9.
