- The PS5 user instead recieved a Limited Edition God of War controller back, instead of the one they sent in.
- The gaming community is intrigued by fortunate controller swaps, sparking interest and discussion.
Both Nintendo and Sony have services in place to fix faulty hardware, but when a PlayStation user sent their PS5 controller in for repair, they didn’t expect to receive a Limited Edition God of War controller back. Rarely do you hear of these blunders occurring, but gamers won’t waste time in sharing their lucky experiences with the community, especially when it has to do with God of War being one of Sony’s most popular IPs.
Sony also has gamers’ attention for another reason, thanks to the hype building around the potential new console announcement. Rumors suggest more information on the PS5 Pro is coming sooner rather than later, and industry insiders previously noted the enhanced console could hit the market as early as late 2024. Still, Sony enthusiasts are marveling over the current hardware on offer from the publisher.
Rumor: PS5 Pro Could Have a Much Bigger SSD Than Standard Model
A well-known source alleges that the PS5 Pro might offer a substantially larger storage drive compared to the standard model.
Posted by Alin_09 on Reddit, the gaming community was made aware of the user’s repair experience on the PlayStation subreddit. After sending their standard PS5 DualSense controller away for repair, to fix a broken trigger and a cracked base, the user revealed they got sent back the Limited Edition God of War Ragnarok controller instead. A picture of the freshly unpacked blue and white variant, featuring silhouettes of Nordic-styled wolves on the touchpad button, accompanied the post, and the community believed this gamer had gotten very lucky.
PlayStation User Receives Surprise God of War Ragnarok Controller
The God of War Ragnarok controller was announced back in 2022 during one of Sony’s State of Play showcases, and since the Reddit user received this version for free, other PS5 owners were tempted to send their controllers in for repair in the hopes of gaining the same exchange. Other members of the subreddit felt bad for the other gamer, who likely received the original poster’s standard controller and found themselves one God of War controller down. Furthermore, the community wondered if the rightful owner of the Limited Edition controller would upload a similar post to the subreddit, allowing each controller to be returned to their rightful owners.
A similar experience happened recently to another gamer who shared their luck with Reddit. An Xbox 360 fan gained the rare Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2005 original after ordering the 2012 revival version instead. Once again, the gaming community was amazed by the gamer’s luck, even though morale came into question with the Xbox 360 instance and the PS5 switcheroo.
Ahead of its second anniversary, God of War Ragnarok will be receiving a giant PC Port in September, with a file size big enough to make fans’ eyes water. Unlocked framerates and the option of true 4K resolution await PC players later this year, and the Redditor may even use their new controller when the port arrives.
