PlayStation 5 gamers looking for something similar to Animal Crossing will want to check out Hello Kitty Island Adventure when it launches on August 5. The PlayStation 5 may not have access to Nintendo's suite of highly-rated exclusive games, but there are many developers that follow in the Big N's footsteps and create titles clearly inspired by the company's most popular franchises.

Take Knightling, for example. Knightling is coming to the PS5 on August 28, offering gameplay that is highly reminiscent of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While the jury is still out on whether Knightling is a good game or not, there's no doubt that it will be of interest to Zelda fans on PlayStation 5.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a life sim game where players interact with Sanrio characters on an island, building their relationships with them and completing various challenges. The game was originally released as an Apple Arcade exclusive in 2023, but finally came to PC and the Nintendo Switch in January 2025. The next destination for Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the PS5 on August 5, and it should go a long way in filling the Animal Crossing-shaped void on the platform.

On top of that, Hello Kitty Island Adventure also has online multiplayer support, so it should be of interest to PS5 gamers looking for something new to play with their friends this month.

The life sim genre is somewhat of an acquired taste, but those that enjoy it should get a lot of playtime out of Hello Kitty Island Adventure when it releases for the PS5 on August 5. A PlayStation 4 version of the game is also planned, but it's unclear at the time of this writing if it will launch alongside the PS5 version. Exact pricing information has yet to be revealed either, but chances are Hello Kitty Island Adventure on PS5 will retail for $39.99 to match the other versions.
