The PS VR2 is just a few days away from launching, and it seems it will hit the market with an avalanche of games. For racing fans, there is Gran Turismo 7, while for gamers who want to be terrified, there is Resident Evil Village. Some titles will stimulate almost all the senses, plunging players into uniquely psychedelic worlds that show off the brilliance of virtual reality gaming. This includes Thumper and Tetris Effect, which will both be available when the PS VR2 launches.

Tetris Effect and Thumper are already mind-blowing games when played on a flat screen, so the chance to enjoy them in VR is exciting. Immersion will be increased thanks to the features the PS VR2 packs which include haptics on the headset itself. Such minor touches will ensure players are treated to a complete sensory overload experience that simply cannot be replicated by regular gaming.

The Colorful World of Tetris Effect

Tetris Effect was released in 2018, and it is a modern take on the classic puzzle game. It manages to drop jaws thanks to its bright colors, and the synchronization between the visuals and music that inject rhythm elements into the gameplay. Players don't just place blocks, they become the orchestrators of a magical light show featuring both futuristic and oriental musical influences. Playing it on a flat screen is already a breathtaking experience, but players can take to the virtual reality realm using the PS VR, or PC VR headsets such as the Quest and HTC Vive.

It has been announced that Tetris Effect will be one of the PS VR2 launch titles, and there are many reasons for players to try out this eccentric title. It will be taking advantage of the upcoming headset by featuring enhanced haptic feedback for both the PS VR2 controllers and the headset itself. Using eye tracking, players will also be able to enter a Zone Battle by closing and opening their eyes. In Zone Battles, players try to clear as many lines as possible in one go. Other features added include a single-player version of the Classic Score Attack mode and a new Zone Marathon mode.

The Fast-Paced World of Thumper

With the lack of backward compatibility, players won't be able to play PSVR games such as Wipeout. This doesn't mean gamers won't have the chance to satisfy their need for speed. Released in 2016, Thumper is a luridly colored rhythm game that has gamers controlling a space beetle traveling at whiplash-inducing speeds. As the beetle travels along tracks, players must hit notes in time with the background music. The game already received critical acclaim when it appeared on the PSVR, and it will be receiving a PS VR2 upgrade. The experience is set to be even more all-consuming due to the game's use of features such as 3D audio, haptic feedback, and 4K visuals.

Players can also choose between using the DualSense controller or the PS VR2's controllers when playing, although they sport similar features, so there shouldn't be a radical difference. If gamers still haven't had enough psychedelic fixes, they can check out Rez Infinite which will also be available when the PS VR2 launches. The upcoming headset is a huge leap ahead of its predecessor, and it appears that developers are eager to utilize its power. Early reviews of the PS VR2 have been exceedingly positive, and if the headset continues to receive great titles, it should enjoy a great lifespan.

The PlayStation VR2 is scheduled to release on February 22.
