2026 has seemingly kicked off the new year with a consistent pattern for PS Plus, some of which is obviously carrying over from late 2025. The PS Plus Essential Tier, often known as the free games, has been a mix of middling games, while PS Plus Extra games are forced to carry the month. PS Plus Premium continues to be the black sheep of the family, getting fewer games than the other services, and the next PS Plus Premium game is already picking up heat.
The PlayStation State of Play revealed several PS Plus games coming to the service over the next few months. PS Plus Essential will get Big Walk sometime this year. PS Plus Premium received Disney Pixar Wall-E in February, and is getting Tekken: Dark Resurrection in March, as well as Time Crisis in May. The PS Plus Extra Games for February 2026 were also confirmed to be Echoes of the End, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Monster Hunter Stories (1+2), Neva, Rugby 25, Season: A Letter to the Future, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, and Venba.
PS Plus Premium Subscribers Are Unhappy with Tekken: Dark Resurrection
One glance is all it takes to see the shift in quantity, but sometimes quality requires a deeper investigation. Fighting game fans noticed that the PS Plus Premium version of Tekken: Dark Resurrection is specifically the PSP version of the game. It's not clear why Sony chose the PSP version when the PS2 version is considered superior by fans.

Fans wasted no time tearing Tekken: Dark Resurrection's PSP addition apart. "Please don't be a repeat of T6 with no multiplayer. That was stupid," said one. Fans were quick to point out how much more simplified the PSP version is, with missing content on top of that, like the vanilla Tekken 5 stages. The PSP version also has no versus mode and worse graphics, perhaps meaning Sony wants fans to get the best single-player experience, but even that's a matter of debate. No PS Plus Classics catalog game has Online Play, so that could explain this choice, but any good fighting game is about multiplayer at its heart. And that's what the PS2 version could have offered.
Overall, fans are not impressed by this single game. And the reality is, while PS Plus Essential and Extra games can get by on a few weak ones because they offer a handful, PS Plus Premium cannot. PS Plus Premium sometimes only adds 1 game to the Classics Catalog, and fans likely know the one game for May. Of course, things could change before May rolls around, but fans will just have to wait and see.
PS Plus Reveal and Release Pattern Holds Strong
While the reveal was slightly delayed by the State of Play, the PS Plus Extra and Premium Games for February 2026 were added on time on February 17. That means fans know the PS Plus free games for March will be revealed on February 25, barring any end-of-month funny business, before being added early in March, with the Extra and Premium games coming later in March. The State of Play also suggests that there will not be a PS Plus Premium addition in April.
Right now, the only game known for March is Tekken: Dark Resurrection. It may not be the most appealing title, but hopefully the others for March will make up for it. I don't know if I'd rely on the PS Plus free games for March to do that, but the PS Plus Extra games for March 2026 likely will (again).
