Newly-surfaced evidence suggests that the original TimeSplitters game is coming to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus, to be playable on both PS4 and PS5. The big selling point of the PlayStation Plus Premium tier is the ability to play retro games. By and large, these offerings have mostly consisted of PS1 and PS3 titles, but Sony has recently made a greater effort to bring more PS2 games to the service.
In fact, three PS2 games were added to PS Plus Premium earlier this month, with Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Tomb Raider: Legend, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars all joining the lineup. Now it seems yet another classic PS2 game is set to make its debut on PS Plus Premium at some point in the near future, if a recent ratings leak is any indication.

An ex-developer of Free Radical Design, which made the TimeSplitters games, shares a glimpse at what the fourth game would have looked like.
As spotted by Gematsu, TimeSplitters has been rated for both the PS4 and PS5 in Taiwan. Based on past leaks, this means that chances are good TimeSplitters will be making its PS Plus Premium soon, possibly as early as the July 2024 new additions, though that remains to be seen. Developed by the now-defunct Free Radical Design, the original TimeSplitters was actually a launch title for the PS2, so it's especially fitting to see it make a comeback through PlayStation Plus. Of course, it will also likely be available for individual purchase as well, just like many of the other retro games available through PlayStation Plus.
TimeSplitters Ratings Leak Hints at PS Plus Premium Release
For those unfamiliar with the TimeSplitters games, they serve as spiritual successors of sorts to Rare's GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark. All three games earned critical acclaim at the time of their respective releases, with the PS2 exclusive TimeSplitters generally considered one of the best FPS games ever released on the system, boasting a co-op story campaign and robust offline multiplayer options. If the beloved TimeSplitters is truly coming to PS4 and PS5 as this ratings board leak suggests, it will be the first time that the game has been available to purchase on any system other than the PS2.
After TimeSplitters 1 comes to PS4 and PS5, perhaps its sequels will make the leap as well. TimeSplitters 2 is generally considered an improvement over its predecessor, with many pointing to the third game, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, as the peak of the series. While it remains to be seen if those two games will ever be added to the PS Plus Premium catalog, the good news is that they are still available to play on some modern hardware regardless. TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect are both playable on Xbox thanks to the backward compatibility program, and can in fact be purchased digitally on the systems.
