Summary
- PS Plus Premium now offers trophy support for Thrillville, a classic theme park sim akin to RollerCoaster Tycoon.
- PS Plus Premium Classics Catalog includes hundreds of PS, PS2, and PSP games, with many receiving trophy support.
Thrillville, a theme park management sim added to PS Plus Premium in December 2023, now features trophies for all those collectors out there. Developed by Frontier Developments, the indie game was compared to RollerCoaster Tycoon and received predominantly positive reviews when it originally released for the PS2 and PlayStation Portable in 2006 and 2007, respectively.
PlayStation Plus Premium launched in June 2022 and included the Classics Catalog, which provides access to downloadable versions of hundreds of original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable games, as well as PS3 titles via cloud streaming. In October, it was announced that many of the games added to the PS Plus Premium Classics Catalog would be getting trophy support. Some titles, however, don’t receive trophies immediately.
When the PSP version of Thrillville joined the PS Plus Premium catalog, it did not come with trophy support, though that has now changed. Thanks to PSNProfiles, which pulls its data directly from the PlayStation Network, a full list of all 38 Thrillville trophies and their requirements is now available. These include a Platinum trophy, as well as a range of tasks from easy to difficult like getting 5 stars on 10 missions, maxing out the friendship meter of at least two park guests, and building a race or coaster track with a nausea score of 70 or more.
It seems that PlayStation and many developers are actively working to add trophy support to Classic games that don’t yet have it. In June, four other PS Plus Premium games got trophy support: Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, and Toy Story 3.
Some games, on the other hand, have other hiccups, even if they already offer trophy support. In June, it came to light that PS Plus Extra’s Crime Boss: Rockay City had an unobtainable Platinum trophy after a patch bugged out the game’s progress tracking. Two trophies wouldn’t pop even after all the requirements were met, leaving the Plat just out of reach. Thankfully, the issue was remedied fairly quickly by developer Ingame Studios, though the difficulty curve will still keep the trophies out of reach of many gamers.
