Between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 titles across Premium, Extra, and Essential tiers, PlayStation Plus is usually a treasure trove of special games that include at least one golden nugget for everyone. This is ensured due to PlayStation Plus’ monthly game catalog, offering three or four wildly different gameplay experiences and genres. Of course, this strategy boldly comes with pros and cons regarding individual player preferences and tastes, with no one batch of diverse, monthly PlayStation Plus games necessarily being as immense every month.

2024 had some exceptional monthly games, such as Borderlands 3, NHL 24, and Among Us last July, but its consecutive months were debatably hit or miss.

For example, the PlayStation Plus monthly games for January 2023 would’ve been tremendously exciting for anyone who adores Fallout and Star Wars as they included Fallout 76 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, while October 2024’s monthly games treated PlayStation Plus subscribers to a special spooky season with EA Motive’s Dead Space remake. That said, while every month has likely been some gamers’ favorite for one reason or another, PlayStation Plus has arguably been hitting a remarkable stride with the last three months delivering on popular heavy-hitters, and August is now scheduled to continue this hot streak.

PS Plus Subscribers Are Losing 14 More Games In August 2025

PlayStation confirms a total of 14 more games will leave its lucrative PS Plus subscription service in August 2025, including some big AAA titles.

PlayStation Plus’ Last Three Months Have Been Banger After Banger

How beloved a game may be is subjective, but it’s plain to see when one is hoisted above the rest, even if that’s merely in terms of how popular or successful it is. Assessing the past few batches of PlayStation Plus monthly games, specifically for the months of May, June, and July this year, at least one game can easily be said to tower over the others as a high-ranking title that has made a monumental and profound impact on the industry.

May 2025

  • Ark: Survival Ascended
  • Balatro
  • Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

June 2025

  • NBA 2K25
  • Alone in the Dark
  • Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
  • Destiny 2: The Final Shape

July 2025

  • Diablo 4
  • The King of Fighters 15
  • Jusant

Indeed, Balatro, Destiny 2: The Final Shape, and Diablo 4 are terrific games that have earned their continued limelight prior to being added to PlayStation’s subscription service, and have probably been wonderful incentives for players who weren’t already indulging in it to finally cave.

It’s particularly thrilling knowing that these three batches were back-to-back, meaning that subscribers have been enjoying huge, landmark games for the last three months, especially when an addictive game like Balatro has endless replayability or live-service games like Destiny 2 and Diablo 4 reward invested devotion with post-launch seasonal content and expansions. The cherry on top, then, is that the PlayStation Plus monthly games for August 2025 are sure to perpetuate the service’s success, thanks in no small part to the Soulslike subgenre’s hottest new game, Lies of P.

PlayStation Plus’ August 2025 Monthly Games Boast the Best Modern Soulslike, Lies of P

Once again bearing a wide breadth of games to satiate a few deep corners of the video game industry, Soulslike enjoyers who haven’t been able to take advantage of Lies of P’s Xbox Game Pass availability have a lot to look forward to. Announced earlier today, PlayStation Plus’ monthly games for August 2025, available on August 5, include:

August 2025

  • Lies of P
  • Day Z
  • My Hero One’s Justice 2

Despite Wuchang: Fallen Feathers having recently launched, Lies of P is still regarded as the best new Soulslike in the last couple of years, with many players even considering it to be better than some of FromSoftware’s seminal classics. Plus, Lies of P’s Overture DLC was released not too long ago, giving PlayStation Plus subscribers a beautiful and harrowing prologue chapter to seek out on their own once they complete the base game.

Lies of P alone might be reason enough for skeptical players to dip their big toe into PlayStation Plus. And, it’ll be fascinating to see if September can continue this run of epic, high-profile, back-to-back games.
