The free PlayStation Plus games for September 2024 are available to claim starting today. PS Plus members have until late September to add them to their accounts.
Sony's subscribers normally have new freebies to claim on the first Tuesday of every month. The August 2024 batch of free PS Plus games consisted of Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
This time around, Sony is giving away Little Nightmares 2, MLB The Show 24, and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. This trio of titles became available to claim earlier today, September 3. PlayStation Plus members have until September 30 to add the newly released freebies to their accounts, after which they'll be able to continue playing them for as long as their subscription remains active. Little Nightmares 2 is the most critically acclaimed title from this newly released trio, based on its "Strong" OpenCritic rating derived from an aggregate score of 82 and an impressive 88% reviewer recommendation rate.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Comes With a Bonus PS Plus Cosmetic
Many subscribers might consider Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions as the highlight of the PS Plus freebie lineup for September 2024, not least because it happens to be a day-one addition to the service, which is not something that's seen all too often. PS Plus members will also get a Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions broom skin once they add the game to their accounts. Called the Firebolt Supreme, this cosmetic was previously offered as a pre-order bonus, but can currently only be obtained via a PS Plus membership now that the game itself is out.
As expected, Sony's subscribers are getting access to the Standard Edition of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. Those wanting to get absolutely everything the game has to offer can pick up its Deluxe Pack DLC. Priced at $14.99, the add-on includes four sets of additional cosmetics themed after the four Hogwarts houses. Each of them includes a unique broom skin, travel school uniform, and a crest emblem. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions also has rewards for Hogwarts Legacy players, which PS Plus members can claim the same as anyone who purchased the game.
PlayStation users who are paying for the Extra or Premium tiers of Sony's subscription service should keep an eye on September 11, which is when the company is expected to detail its next game catalog rotation. Based on historical precedent, these yet-to-be-announced changes are likely to go into effect on the third Tuesday of the month, which falls on September 17 this time around.

While not exactly a PSP successor, the PlayStation Portal solves an age-old issue of having to share one TV in a household. This remote play device allows users to stream whatever is happening on their PlayStation 5's directly to the large 8-inch 1080p LCD screen. What makes the PlayStation Portal unique is that it comes packed with all the advanced technology of the DualSense wireless controller, such as adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. One downside is that it doesn't feature Bluetooth support for wireless audio, but it does work with the PlayStation Pulse earbuds and headset, while also sporting a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio.
