Rumored PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 Explained

For the past several months, Dealabs user Billbil-Kun has leaked the PS Plus free games online, and the user has not been wrong a single time. There’s been a time or two where a small detail had been missed, but by and large, Billbil-kun is an incredibly reliable leaker with a proven track record. They even leaked the entirety of Epic Games Store’s December games giveaway.

Of course, Billbil-Kun had leaked the PS free games for April 2022 ahead of their time (Hood: Outlaws and Legends, Slay the Spire, and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated). Now, the user has leaked the PS Plus free games for May 2022, which should still be taken with a grain of salt but are pretty safe bets as far as leaks go. These include FIFA 22 for the PS5/PS4, Curse of the Dead Gods for PS4, and Tribes of Midgard for the PS5/PS4. Fans can expect Sony to confirm this selection on April 27, but for those curious about these games, here’s what they need to know.

PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 – FIFA 22 (PS5/PS4)

FIFA 22 is the latest in a long-running football (soccer in the US) simulator franchise. The PS5 version of the game received generally favorable reviews at launch, although the user score on Metacritic is incredibly low at 2.6. Many of them mention mechanical or technical issues, while there is some general upset over the evolution (or lack thereof) of the franchise.

Nonetheless, FIFA 22 has a ton of features for fans. It uses HyperMotion Technology to capture data from real soccer matches to generate movements, as seen in its Career Mode and other areas of the game. There is an Ultimate Team mode, too, and new Volta mechanics (Power Strike, Pure Pace, and Aggressive Tackle) as special abilities to be used on the field. Overall, for someone who loves soccer but has perhaps never played FIFA, it’s a good entry point.

PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 – Curse of the Dead Gods (PS4)

Every good story begins with a quest for gold, for immortal life, or for divine powers, or at least Curse of the Dead Gods’ story does. Players will venture, in this roguelike dungeon crawler, into a cursed temple that players must keep running through in pursuit of its rewards. Each dungeon is procedurally generated with new traps, hazards, enemies, and more every time someone completes a run, or dies, in Curse of the Dead Gods. New weapons, upgrades, Crystal Skulls, Jade Rings, weapon classes, attributes, stamina, and more all come into the play and/or can be upgraded throughout the game.

One unique quality of Curse of the Dead Gods is its curse meter, which increases under certain circumstances in the game. These curses weaken players and, overall, make each dungeon harder. Players are able to reduce these meter, but only by beating the bosses in Curse of the Dead Gods.

PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 – Tribes of Midgard (PS5/PS4)

Tribes of Midgard is a genre-bending game, ultimately being a co-op roguelike action survival game for all its features. Story-wise, players are defending their Norse village from all sorts of invaders, who are after the seed of Yggdrasil under the village’s protection. If players fail, Ragnarok may occur.

Players are able to venture into the world and gather supplies, claim treasures, and prepare for the coming night, with each playthrough taking place in a procedurally generated world. Tribes of Midgard also features player classes, 10-player co-op, a customizable survival mode, seasonal content and events, and more.
