New monthly PlayStation Plus games! Sony is always adding goodies to its subscription service. The January 2026 Extra games have been revealed.

PS Plus Free Game for June 2024: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice coming to PS Plus as a free game might be a lot to ask, but it is far past its due for being added to the service. Firstly, Shift Up's Stellar Blade has been rightfully compared to Sekiro, due to its focus on parrying as a core combat mechanic. Additionally, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC launches in June, so it might be time to finally feature Sekiro as one of PS Plus Essential's free games.

PS Plus Free Game for June 2024: Nier: Automata

PlatinumGames' Nier: Automata would also be a worthwhile and justifiable addition to PS Plus' June 2024 Essential games for a number of reasons. Just as with Sekiro, Stellar Blade has drawn comparisons with Nier: Automata as well, so its timing would make sense. Its prequel, Nier: Replicant, was also added to PS Plus Extra last year, but Nier: Automata has yet to be included in PS Plus' list of free games.

PS Plus Free Game for June 2024: Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is not only one of the best installments in the Metal Gear Solid series, but also one of the best stealth games ever made. Unfortunately, it has yet to grace PS Plus as one of the service's free games. However, June 2024 might be the month to do so, as the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, renamed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is slated for a 2024 release and is rumored to be one of the games featured in the next PlayStation Showcase.

Ushering in a new era for the franchise with cutting-edge technology powered by the Fox Engine, MGSV: The Phantom Pain will provide players a first-rate gaming experience as they are offered tactical freedom to carry out open-world missions.

Nine years after the events of MGSV: GROUND ZEROES and the fall of Mother Base, Snake a.k.a. Big Boss, awakens from a nine year coma. The year is 1984. The Cold War serves as the backdrop as nuclear weapons continue to shape a global crisis. Driven by revenge, Snake establishes a new private army and returns to the battlefield in pursuit of the shadow group, XOF.

The METAL GEAR SOLID team continues to ambitiously explore mature themes such as the psychology of warfare and the atrocities that result from those that engage in its vicious cycle. PS Plus Extra and Premium Games for June 2024 Wish List

There are several games that could come to PS Plus in June, but some of them may make more sense than others. These include:

  • PS5: While it might seem counterproductive to bring Elden Ring to PS Plus in June, it could be a way for FromSoftware to get more players to purchase and play Shadow of the Erdtree.
  • PS4: Persona 5 Royal, widely considered one of the best role-playing games ever made, is still long overdue for the PS Plus treatment.
  • PS3: Another Soulslike worthy of being added to PS Plus is Dark Souls 2, which is almost universally considered one of the PS3's best games.
  • PSP: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars first launched on the Nintendo DS and came to PSP later, but it is still considered one of the best Grand Theft Auto titles ever made.
  • PS2: With the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake on the way, there may not be a better time to play the original.
  • PS1: With the Silent Hill 2 remake on the way and its reveal rumored to be just around the corner, there may not be a better time to add the first Silent Hill to PS Plus.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
