The monthly selection of PS Plus Essential games is now available for download on both PS4 and PS5 consoles. Previously, Sony issued a warning to PS Plus subscribers that it would be removing PS4 games, although it has yet to do so. In fact, 3 of the 4 available games can be downloaded and played on PS4.
In January, fans were treated to Need for Speed Unbound, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper. While the selection of PS Plus free games was okay, giving something to certain subsects of fans, many were disappointed. It remains to be seen how the PS Plus free games for February 2026 are ultimately received, but they carry the same strength: there's something for everyone.

Undisputed bills itself as "the most authentic boxing game to date," and while that may be a matter of opinion, beating up an opponent is a core value among many games. Those who delve into it can expect at least 15.5 hours of gameplay, according to aggregate website HowLongtoBeat.com. Subnautica: Below Zero, meanwhile, is the second chapter in the franchise (not to be confused with the in-development Subnautica 2). It's an open-world, underwater, survival game for PS Plus subscribers where players land on an alien ocean planet to learn about their sister's death. HLTB lists it at 26 hours, which means just these two games give subscribers a full-time job.
Ultros is a 17-hour-long Metroidvania game for PS Plus subscribers that is best described as trippy. It contains all the major Metroidvania conventions and is set in a location known as The Sarcophagus—a cosmic uterus with an ancient, demonic baby. For Metroidvania fans, it's definitely worth checking out as it boasts an impressive 81 critic rating on Metacritic. Finally, there's Ace Combat 7—a franchise known for strong flight combat gameplay. It adds another 15 hours to the total play time of these games.

How The PS Plus Free Games for February 2026 Reviewed
Via Metacritic
Subnautica: Below Zero has a respectable 82 score, meaning it's a strong game for fans of the franchise or fans of the genre and perhaps a solid game for someone completely new to the genre or the concept. In a similar boat are Ultros, with an 81 critic score, and Ace Combat 7, with an 80 critic score. Yes, each of these games is within a point of the others.
Ironically, the headliner for PS Plus' February line-up—meaning the one placed first in official PS Plus marketing—has the lowest score of the four. Undisputed's Metacritic score is 70, giving it a mixed or average reception.
- Undisputed: 70
- Ace Combat 7: 80
- Ultros: 81
- Subnautica: Below Zero - 82
In general, it has seen improvements to gameplay, mechanics, and graphics since launch, making it better now than it was at launch in late 2024, so this could be someone's second chance to try it on PS Plus. Still, the mixed reception lingers with known online issues, lackluster updates, and a general lack of depth in career mode. All that said, 70 to one person or group of people can be an 80 or 90 to another, so at the very least, it's free to try out for those interested.
