Summary

  • August 2024 lineup speculation includes Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Alan Wake 2, and Lies of P.
  • PS Plus Essential subscribers may anticipate a better lineup in August compared to July 2024.
  • Current trends and upcoming releases suggest exciting additions to PS Plus across various platforms.

Every month, PS Plus subscribers are given a handful of free games to add to their libraries, and while the last couple of months have been hard on PS Plus Essential subscribers, the hope is that all of that will change moving forward. July 2024's PS Plus offerings have been lacklustre on the Essential side, with its Extra and Premium lineup arguably getting a much better selection. Nevertheless, time moves on, which means August 2024's PS Plus lineup is just around the corner.

There are several games that would make great additions to PS Plus in August 2024 in light of current trends and highly anticipated upcoming titles. While subscribers will need to wait until at least July 31, 2024, for the official announcement of PS Plus Essential's lineup, there's enough reason to speculate on whether certain games might be added to the service next month.

PS Plus Free Game for August 2024: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was on many fans' wish lists for July 2024 as well, but that's because there still wouldn't be a better time for this immediate classic to be added to the service's extensive catalog of games. With Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment's non-Jedi adventure Star Wars Outlaws on the horizon, replaying Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or playing it for the first time via PS Plus would be the best way to prepare for yet another gaming journey into the Star Wars universe.

PS Plus Free Game for August 2024: Alan Wake 2

Alan Wake 2 was one of the biggest surprises of 2023, primarily due to it being the sequel to a thirteen-year-old game and delivering an incredibly riveting, thrilling, and edge-of-your-seat cinematic experience. Now, with the recent release of its Night Springs DLC, August 2024 is arguably a perfect month for it to be added to PS Plus.

A string of ritualistic murders threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by Pacific Northwest wilderness. Saga Anderson, an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases arrives to investigate the murders. Anderson’s case spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true around her.

Alan Wake, a lost writer trapped in a nightmare beyond our world, writes a dark story in an attempt to shape the reality around him and escape his prison. With a dark horror hunting him, Wake is trying to retain his sanity and beat the devil at his own game.

Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities, connected at heart in ways neither of them can understand: reflecting each other, echoing each other, and affecting the worlds around them.

Fueled by the horror story, supernatural darkness invades Bright Falls, corrupting the locals and threatening the loved ones of both Anderson and Wake. Light is their weapon—and their safe haven — against the darkness they face. Trapped in a sinister horror story where there are only victims and monsters, can they break out to be the heroes they need to be?

PS Plus Free Game for August 2024: Lies of P

Lies of P may be yet another Soulslike game added to an already stuffed genre, but it is a surprisingly well-built and satisfying one. Developed by indie game developer Neowiz, Lies of P is a testament to the impact that the creator of the Soulslike genre, FromSoftware, has had on the gaming industry. With the release of Jyamma Games' Enotria: The Last Song on the horizon and the similarities it seems to share with Lies of P, August 2024 would be a great time for its arrival on PS Plus.

Lies of P is a thrilling soulslike that takes the story of Pinocchio, turns it on its head, and sets it against the darkly elegant backdrop of the Belle Epoque era.

You are a puppet created by Geppetto who’s caught in a web of lies with unimaginable monsters and untrustworthy figures standing between you and the events that have befallen the world of Lies of P.

You are awakened by a mysterious voice that guides you through the plagued city of Krat - a once lively place that has been poisoned by madness and bloodlust. In our soulslike, you must adapt yourself and your weapons to face untold horrors, untangle the unfathomable secrets of the city's elites and choose whether to confront predicaments with the truth or weave lies to overcome them on the journey to find yourself.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Games for August 2024 Wish List

There are several games that would make great additions to PS Plus in August 2024, especially considering current trends and upcoming releases. These include:

  • PS5: With Monster Hunter Wilds arriving in 2025, now might be a good time for Koei Tecmo's Monster Hunter-like title Wild Hearts to grace the PS Plus stage.
  • PS4: The addition of Kingdom Come: Deliverance to PS Plus would make sense right now, considering the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is just around the corner.
  • PS3: With Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 currently on PS Plus, there's little reason why Fallout: New Vegas shouldn't also be added.
  • PSP: Kingdom Hearts 4 is one of the most anticipated titles being talked about lately, and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep on PS Plus would be a great placeholder.
  • PS2: Burnout 3: Takedown is still considered one of the best racing games ever made, and its addition to PS Plus is long overdue.
  • PS1: Star Wars Outlaws is being compared to both Uncharted and Tomb Raider, so August 2024 might be a good time for the original Tomb Raider to make an appearance on PS Plus.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
