Sony has officially revealed all the new games coming to the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus on September 17. PlayStation Plus gives away new free games to those subscribed to the Essential tier at the beginning of every month, while the Extra and Premium libraries get a refresh in the middle of each month.
As such, the free PS Plus games for September 2024 are available to claim right now, with subscribers able to snag Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, MLB The Show 24, and Little Nightmares 2 for their digital libraries. Of course, with PS Plus Extra and Premium being higher tiers than Essential, the free games are available to those subscribers as well.
PS Plus is Losing One of Its Best Games on September 17
Unfortunately, PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers will be losing access to one of the service's best games on September 17.
PS Plus Premium subscribers are treated to everything added to the Essential and Extra tiers on top of the new titles added to Premium, which makes Tuesday, September 17 an especially exciting day for those individuals. On that day, nine games will be added to the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus, while an additional four will be added to PS Plus Premium.

On September 17, PS Plus Extra subscribers will be treated to Ben 10, Chernobylite, Far Cry 5, Night in the Woods, Road 96, Space Engineers, The Plucky Squire, Under the Waves, and Wild Card Football. Out of these, the most notable is the day one PS Plus Extra game The Plucky Squire. The Plucky Squire takes inspiration from The Legend of Zelda franchise and features a unique gimmick where players are able to travel between a storybook and the "real world." The Plucky Squire has a ton of potential and should make for a great addition to the PS Plus Extra lineup come September 17.

PS Plus Premium subscribers can look forward to checking out all nine of the new PS Plus Extra games starting September 17, but they will also have four Premium games to check out as well. Old-school PS2 games like Mister Mosquito and Sky Gunner are joining PS Plus Premium on that day, joined by popular virtual reality game Pistol Whip and the PSP game Secret Agent Clank. Secret Agent Clank was leaked for PS Plus Premium a while ago, so it's great to see that it's finally being added to the service.
While PS4 gamers will miss out on some of these games, PlayStation 5 owners will be able to play all the new PS Plus additions for September 2024. This is thanks to the PS5's backward compatibility, so even if a game doesn't have a native PS5 version, it can still be played on the latest hardware.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon's Souls and Astro's Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
