PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers will be able to add the Silent Hill 2 remake to their libraries later this month, according to reputable leaker Billbil-kun. However, PS Plus subscribers should also be aware that more should be coming alongside the well-received remake.
This leak follows the recent additions to the PS Plus free games catalog, which is officially known as the Essential Tier. PS Plus recently added Alan Wake 2, Cocoon, and Goat Simulator 3, with fans having until early November to claim them. Given that it's October, it's understandable that PS Plus is focusing on horror games with Alan Wake 2 and Silent Hill 2, but it's hard to say what other games will join PS Plus Extra later this month.

Dealabs insider Billbil-kun has leaked tons of PS Plus games over this year, with such a high degree of accuracy that there's little reason to doubt this information. According to Billbil-kun, Silent Hill 2 will join the PS Plus Extra games catalog on October 21 (unless there is some last-minute change). If so, fans can expect to know next week. It is also said that a PS5 Pro Patch and new DLC for Silent Hill 2 are in the works, but an exact timeline for their release has not been established. They would presumably come some time after the PS Plus addition, although specific dates are currently unknown.
This is notably good timing for the Silent Hill 2 remake. Konami recently released Silent Hill f, and while it has its detractors (largely because of the combat), it launched to strong reviews. On OpenCritic, Silent Hill f reviews have an 87 Top Critic Average and a 90 Player Rating. Its reception, as compared to Silent Hill 2, has been a major talking point for the past few weeks, so its addition should go over as well.
However, many PS Plus subscribers were hoping for a different horror game this year. With the upcoming release of Resident Evil Requiem, there has been plenty of fan demand for PS Plus to add Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. The good news, either way, is that PS Plus is providing plenty of horror thrills for the month, but the entire list of PS Plus Extra games has yet to be confirmed. It's still entirely possible they grace the PS Plus Extra additions in the coming weeks. For now, knowing that Silent Hill 2 may lead the charge is still very exciting for the spooky season.
