Summary

  • FBC: Firebreak will be available on PS Plus Extra on release day in 2025.
  • It will also be a day one Xbox Game Pass game.
  • It will also be available to those signed up for the Premium tier of PS Plus.

PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers can look forward to playing FBC: Firebreak on the day of its release in 2025. PlayStation Plus Extra doesn't get nearly as many day one games as its chief competitor, Xbox Game Pass, but day one games do hit that tier of the service on occasion.

There are no day one PS Plus Extra games for October 2024, but the September 2024 lineup included The Plucky Squire, a well-received Zelda-like action-adventure game. Earlier this year, Animal Well debuted on PS Plus Extra, which was especially notable as that game is one of the year's highest-rated new releases. Now those signed up for the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus have even more to look forward to, as yet another game has been confirmed as a day one release.

It's been announced that Remedy Entertainment's FBC: Firebreak, a 3-player first-person online co-op game set in the universe of Alan Wake and Control, will be launching as a day one game on PS Plus Extra. When FBC: Firebreak was first announced, it was confirmed as a day one Xbox Game Pass game, but there was no mention of PS Plus at the time, since the reveal happened as part of an Xbox event. A release date for FBC: Firebreak has yet to be announced, but it's expected to release at some point in 2025.

FBC: Firebreak is a Day One PS Plus Extra Game

FBC: Firebreak marks the second time that a game was released for both PS Plus Extra and Xbox Game Pass on the same day of its launch. The last time this happened was with Sea of Stars, a well-reviewed RPG that takes inspiration from classics like Chrono Trigger. It's possible future games will debut on PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass simultaneously, but it will still be an incredibly rare occasion.

While FBC: Firebreak is specifically coming to the Extra tier of PS Plus when it launches in 2025, it will also be available to those who are signed up for PS Plus Premium. PS Plus Premium is the most expensive tier of the service, and as such, it includes all of the PS Plus perks in one package. This means anyone that is signed up for PS Plus Premium can get all the free games that are part of the Essential tier, the PS4 and PS5 games that are added as part of the Extra tier, and the retro games that are exclusive to the Premium tier.
