SH1 has notepad savepoints

SH2 has the red squares

SH3 has the Halo of the Sun

SH4 has a notebook

SH1 & SH4's savepoints can be boiled down to simply being just that

SH2 & SH3 on the other hand, not so much.

SH2: still not completely 100% sure what every red square represents but we do know what the final 9 square savepoint does. James' 9 delusions; the 9 monsters seen throughout the game

SH3: the Halo of the Suns' 2 outer circles represent charity & resurrection; in rare death scenes, Valtiel will drag Heather's body to the nearest savepoint & resurrect her, giving a nice explanation for saves & respawning in the game
