The problem isn't Gatwa, it's Disney. You can't take the charm of show with a not so great budget for special effects & throw Disney $ at it. It's got too many special effects & songs. It's not a musical. (Love the special guests though.)
Bi-generation lost an important part of who Dr Who is. The first episode, if not more, the Doctor learns who they are & we learn more about this Doctor too. Plus, he is vulnerable during that time.
I love this happy Doctor, but we need a bit more about him.
