See AllNintendo's Creature Capture Patent Dealt Blow Amid Palworld Lawsuit
At this point, they're basically trying to patent not just what has become an established genre, but core gameplay concepts that have leaked out across the entire industry.
And yeah, at this point there are too many franchises that use a lot of their applied patents. Heck, ARK pretty much uses all of them just by itself. The biggest reason Palworld has been getting more flak imo is just because it leans into the cartoony aesthetic more than most of the modern Pokemon-esque titles/franchises.
I feel like the main reason Tinnedno started their patents with vague wording was because they wanted to start the patent loop of deliberation, rejection, amendment, deliberation, rejection, amendment, but then prematurely amended their creature riding application later because they were worried it would be deemed too vague and get rejected outright, causing a cascade effect that would shut down their case entirely.
Hey, maybe they did want to try and hoard building block game concepts for themselves. But I'd bet it's just a classic example of a big company trying to drag out court proceedings, but that they intended on having the case close before announcing their leaked Palworld...adjacent...game. Which means they might be spending bundles of cash on a project that's now serving to give themselves a tighter deadline on wrapping up litigation.
