Evelyn Uh, most of the comparisons of Pokémon and Dragon Quest monster designs have both instances rooted in a common source (like mythology?)... This is very distinct from say Cremis being a recolored and scaled down Giga Eevee pretty much. The unreleased Pals I'm pretty sure stayed unreleased for a reason as some were too on the nose like Dark Mutant and Mega Mewtwo X or Boltmane and Luxray.
Most games releasing unfinished can actually be a valid argument and discussion should be had if there needs to be a reform on that, but that requires understanding from consumers as well, not just devs.

This is a rather silly take. A dev should be able to call an idea they had their own, something Silicon Knights should have done with Eternal Darkness' Sanity System but Nintendo had the forethought to do themselves. Namco patented loading screen mini games, nobody is calling them evil for decades worth of boring loading screen stills lol. What is suspect is Nintendo filing for this particular patent while in an active lawsuit. Before anyone says it, no, Nintendo being granted this patent doesn't mean they can retroactively go after companies that "infringed" on it prior. The thing with patents though is they eventually die off. The aforementioned Sanity System patent has expired for good since 2021 and the system is public domain, allowing anyone to recreate the Sanity System without Nintendo trying to sue you. Jumpman iirc is also coming up to its expiration date with no way for Nintendo to renew it.
