See AllI Adore Pikachu, But Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Raichu Completely Misses the Point
No disagreements from me. Let Raichu be Raichu, please! It's time to take a step back and update their appearances. Mega Raichu X was almost perfect.
Turning it partially back into Pikachu, for its Mega form, sends the wrong message, for me. It feels regressive, like, "You were better, back then. Go back!" I know growing up, for a human, feels like a mistake, at times. There are times where I wish I could wind my own biological clock back a little. But the same sentiment shouldn't be applied to Pokemon Evolutions, not even for the cute and popular ones.
If we could rewrite history, & make Raichu more likeable to diehard Pikachu fans, what would it look like? Just Pikachu, but slightly bigger, plus some ornamentations? Or would we do away with Raichu, altogether? Is Raichu not cute? IMO; I think it's cute, no less so than Pikachu, AND rad as heck to boot! I'm not seeing what the issue with Raichu is.
Amid Palworld Lawsuit, Nintendo Patents a System for Summoning a Character
I did keep bringing up "borrowed elements," when maybe I should have said, "shared elements," & focused more on the fact that Nintendo is only shades away from patenting everything under the sun. We can't move, glide or summon monsters without Nintendo interjecting that they did this or that with their game, & others have to change things about their own game to not get sued. If the system had a conscience worth acknowledging, Nintendos case would've been thrown out altogether.
Amid Palworld Lawsuit, Nintendo Patents a System for Summoning a Character
I'm immensely disappointed with Nintendo. I'm in agreement with Mueller. These lawsuits & patents truly do threaten creativity & innovation.
The next time that I do get on Palworld, I don't want to have to ask, "What will Nintendo patent next? & will I be able to mod it back in?" Wether or not my enjoyment of Palworld is affected, one thing is for sure; it won't make me want to play Pokemon more, & I've enjoyed Pokemon since Gen 1. Palworld borrowing elements from Pokemon has done nothing to threaten the franchise. If Palworld truly wanted to be a blatant ripoff of Pokemon, they would give each Pal evolution forms, & then publish 2 or 3 versions of a new sequel, with every new generation of monsters, to maximize profit.
Putting a new spin on borrowed elements be danged, right? I don't know if this is greed, spite or both, but Nintendo needs to ease up on patents & lawsuits, & turn its attention to its own failings. It almost reeks of monopoly.
