Sliders alone doesn't make it woke at all and Doom has had difficulty settings for decades. This isn't Dark Souls. Doom can still be good in spite of this. As long as the demons aren't the good guys and Doom guy isn't turned into Doom femboy (😆) we'll be fine.

I'd take Toho over Sony any day. Sony has become increasingly westernized which has contributed to their recent failures and increasing enmity in the gaming community as well as their mismanagement of Crunchyroll. Toho is at least more true to their national roots.

New IP is great, but the dev has a lot of faith to recover from TLOU2 and the lead actress coming out with a bunch of antigamer comments over trailer criticism isn't going to make this any easier.

No one likes Rey except activist types who care more about messaging than good writing or an IPs original fan base.

Disney won't be happy until they've wrung every last bit of good faith (and money) people had in this and every other beloved IP they've gotten their crusty little fingers on. They've become the devouring phenomenon from their accidentally prophetic black hole movie.

Astro Bot is a very good game, but it didn't deserve GOTY. There were a number of games that did more to earn that title but were effectively blacklisted. These shows are all going to go the same direction as the various Hollywood award shows if the antigamer bias isn't balanced back a bit.

Sounds neat, but kinda worried about the already considerable lack of social interaction a lot of folks online have.

Would like to see a AAA studio try their hands at this as an optional mode for a game for when the chat toxicity is a bit too deep, but you still want to game with friends.

Can't afford the ones already out there. Certainly not going to attempt to support yet another one. Honestly, this sounds like the kind of move that got them expelled from the console war in the first place.

Being a shallow cash grab, I don't expect anything more than a recycled world with roguelike-recycled assets probably loaded with DLC skins, half arsed multi-player service and Sony rearing it's ugly head by the end of it all like Bowser in disguise holding Princess FromSoft captive. My only hope is that it flops SO bad that Kadokawa gives Sony the finger and drops whatever "partnership" they're thinking about.

Not that it really matters anyways. I probably will be sitting out this one since it just looks like a shallow cash grab.

As far as a "pvp only" game goes... Pvp is the least enjoyable aspect of the souls games for many, so, without a bunch of unwilling targets to victimize, not sure how well that'd do.

Yeah, they have had the option of summoning up to three folks for quite a while, but two man teams are often easier to manage and have higher availability. If it's supposedly to busy and overwhelming for two players, just how handicapped is one player mode going to be "for balance reasons"? This screams lazy and low quality. Smells like Sony.

I really do like FromSoft, but something about a lot of this smells of back room Sony interference. If it gets much worse than this it can and will chase off a bunch of otherwise huge fans of their various series.

Yeah, conversely, I've run into enough issues with hackers on console only souls games. I won't even touch the versions of them I bought for my PC anymore especially in online mode. It's all cheat invaders nearly 24/7.

The no crossplay thing is very Sony-like. It wouldn't surprise me if this is one of the first notable redirects Sony is making through its dealings with Kadokawa. Makes me (not) look forward to more of this in the future.

As someone who would consider themselves a bit of a Soulsborne addict, this game seems a bit lacking in several ways. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less about crossplay. Consoles have enough cheaters without pc players in the mix. No doubles, however, is a dealbreaker. I play souls games with my daughter and am not interested in bringing along a third wheel just to make it possible. This game already seemed like a cash grab from all descriptions so I guess we'll just not get this one. Hopefully, they and or Sony, don't put too many chips on this one. I think there will likely be a lot of folks like me that won't bother with this one.
