Appreciate your article! For myself personally, Shadowheart is best girl by miles! Although I really did appreciate Lae'zel's character, Minthara ended up beating out Laezel in what seemed to be an even more interesting character even if Minthara didn't have as much screen time. Shadowheart is the clear main character in act 2 and is a pivotal part of act 1.
Guy here. I've romanced every female and funny enough I'm the least attracted to Karlach who to me is the exact opposite of Shadowheart. Shadowheart is more reserved but still steadfast in her beliefs, promiscuous, and a witty sense of humor.
I'm on my 3rd full run in Tactician mode and it is the first time I haven't had Shadowheart as a main party member and it truly does feel like something special is missing without her presence and banter. Cheers!
