See AllFinal Fantasy 17 Could Face a Major Fork in the Road After FF15, FF16
Arguably just a long run on word salad that could be replaced with:
"What setting haven't they used before?"
More importantly than the setting, is that (I must've played a different FF8 because post-apocalyptic elements haven't really been done properly if at all in an FF title) we should be asking if the return of the classic turn based system is the answer? The last 20 years have not felt like a single "Final Fantasy" title has dropped, but an action game or an mmo with the FF moniker. And that's not to cast doubts (yes it is) or displeasure on the franchise, but I think having a new IP for that would stunt sales just enough to show shareholders that that is not the future of the franchise, if it even has a one - let alone a bright one.
Let's see more Octopath, Bravely Default, I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, etc.
