See AllDoctor Who: Joy To The World Proved The Doctor Doesn’t Have To Save Everyone
I feel like no other episode better showcase this whole concept than "Dot and Bubble" when Lindy Pepper-Bean refused his offer to travel with her and instead opted to go out into the Wild Woods where certain death waited for her. Not only did he fail at saving them, but it literally happened because of the color of his skin which made him have to face, for the very first time, being a minority in a much different way than he had to previously when he was a woman. It was great storytelling and an absolutely unexpected turn of events That really did a great work at showcasing how absolutely blindsiding racism can be. I feel like that really set the tone for how this doctor is going to be going forward, the vulnerability and the loneliness of a black man being the shell for the vulnerability and loneliness of the Doctor.
