See AllWhy Dungeons and Dragons Should Revive 4th Edition's Warlord Class
Most of The Warlord's function and utility was shifted into The Bard in 2014, finally ending an annoying conflict between the 'serious' tactical gaming crowd and the 'serious' role-play crowd.
Level Up A5e (EN Publishing) has a Warlord class (which they've called the Marshal). It fits perfectly into the game without causing any imbalances.
(I think Level Up doesn't get a fair crack of the whip because EN is Stunningly Bad at naming their RPGs. (Their other RPG is called 'What's Old Is New'. If they started a car company they'd call it Trendy Transportation Vehicles or something....) That and the fact they called it 'Advanced 5e' so people assume it's more complicated when actually it just makes characters easier to customise).
Those who'd argue that The Battle Master has much of the Warlord's tactical utility would find that Level Up has added a system where every Martial class (monks, fighters, paladins, etc., and the aforementioned Martial itself) has manoeuvres; a plethora of them with their own traditions (think 'schools' from the magic system) and a better system to implement them.
