Best Metroidvania Games That Deserved Better
Ghost song is great but broken. One of the bosses,I spent an insane amount of time chasing it and trying to coax it out to fight. I never could complete it, because she’d keep running away. The story didn’t really make a lot of sense overall. You’d have genius alien environments, then have emo scene girl bosses lol. I bug the game overall, but really wished it would’ve been more focused, not had a completely broken boss encounter.
I’m playing depths of sanity right now. It’s a great game, and the atmosphere is second to none. I wish the graphics and world were a bit more modernized, and the sub controls and perspective, weren’t so tanky and slow. It can make combat extremely tedious and chaotic. The gameplay isn’t really the star though. It’s more worried about the story and making it palpable.
What to Do With Sparking Stones in Shadow Labyrinth
I’m a Metroid fanatic. Nothing tops super Metroid as the pinnacle and progenitor of Metroidvanias. Symphony of the night became what it did, from using the Metroid formula. I honestly wish that were way more Metroid like than Castlevania likes, but I do love castlevania. Hollow Knight is the current platinum standard, with Prince of Persia the lost crown and the Ori series. If you want to play something truly on the same page as super Metroid, check out The Mobius Machine!
I had high hopes for Shadow labyrinth, and I do like it, but it’s definitely got some issues with it’s formula and execution. A lot of it could be fixed with updates, but its upgrades and abilities are extremely underwhelming, on top of way too many bosses without any real rewards for going through them. You can’t really upgrade and seek out the secrets until the end of the game, and that kills so much of the joy of playing Metroidvanias. Still though, it’s got a great premise, and overall great world and story.
Marvel Cinematic Universe: Characters Who Appear In The Most Movies & Shows, Ranked
Poor Thor.i don't think any other MCU character has had to endure so many tragedies and such bad luck. His mom, Dad, sister, planet, half of his people, then his love interest, then his mental breakdown, being enslaved by the actions of Valkyrie...etc. Dude's been the punching bag of the MCU lol. I didn't really notice just how much he was beat on, until FX started endlessly playing MCU movies constantly. He's had tremendous character growth, but it's amazing he hasn't had a heel turn from so much bad shit happening to him.
Marvel Cinematic Universe: Characters Who Appear In The Most Movies & Shows, Ranked
Because he's not an actual character. He's an Easter egg cameo.it would be different if he actually was the same named character in each movie appearance. But This is referencing avengers specifically, yes the guardians are also avengers as well.
5 Best Open-World Games That Become Horror At Night, Ranked
Horror is different for everyone. Things I find funny or cutesy some finds horrifying, and vice versa. I just think in this insurance they mismanaged the terminology and are more referencing difficulty spike and world transformation between the night and day cycles. They utilize horror tropes but aren't necessarily horror.
With Borderlands 4 Going Bigger With Zones, One Change is a Must
I LOVE the borderlands series. I still own a PS Vita, that always has a copy of borderlands 2 ready to play. I'm actually currently replaying borderlands 3 since it just dropped to Xbox games pass.
With that said, I REALLY wish the enemies had more to them. You could really just spray bullets and beat the games. I'd really love to see the combat and encounters have a bit more strategizing and requiring more tactical thinking, in order to survive. Enemies are almost on rails, throws themselves at your bullets. I really wouldn't mind that changing
Resident Evil 4: What is the Best Version?
The remake is far superior IMO. Gameplay is smooth, there's added gameplay systems that adds a whole new depth, and the areas that were universally reviled have been either eliminated, reworked,or streamlined.
I actually used to own it on iOS as well, and played the hell out of it on iPhone and iPad. Back before the horrible addictive gaming models and subscription models that took over, you had legit console quality games on phones, and outright buy them instead of weekly subscriptions. Those were the days lol.
Why the Latest Resident Evil Movie News is a Red Flag
I actually really loved the show on Netflix. It was bonkers, intense, and seemed to capture the essence between them anything else has. In also just a Lance Reddick fan(RIP) and seeing him play multiple versions of himself sold me lol.
I don't think we'll ever get a great resident evil movie series. The first movie was actually pretty well done, even though it butchered the stories and characters, but at least captured the hopelessness of being trapped in with zombies.
Hollywood will never understand that there's a reason why those IP's became massive hits in the first place, and why there's such rabbit, dedicated, followings. Whether it's comics, books, or games, they always feel the need to force us into their vision, instead of respecting the one that we fell in love with. They don't need the script treatment remix and focus grouped plot treatment. They already existed. Sure you can do little changes and additions, but most of the time they suck the soul out and give us an effigy. When you can screw up something like Uncharted, that's already largely an interactive cinematic experience, you need to rethink your business model. Just look at the insanity of what they did to the Until Dawn movie that's coming out. They just basically took the name and basic principle, then completely twisted into something in left field. That story was fine as it was. We see this over and over, and usually from the same studios and companies, yet they never seem to learn. If it's attached to Sony, you can bet your soul that they'll somehow find a way to completely destroy everything that made the properties loved, in the first place. I don't think they actually respect gaming as an art form and story telling medium. It really appears that they have zero respect for the writing and impact those games have.
Resident Evil 4 Remake: Every Major Boss, Ranked By Design
I'm currently playing the remake and I'm at the final chapter. Wonderful remake. It was extremely satisfying to take down the Verdugo.i will say that I wish that they would've allowed Ashley to have some form of self defense lol. Still though it's an amazing game
7 Most Divisive Resident Evil Games
The first time I played resident evil 4 on PS2, at release, it freaked me the hell out. It was so realistic for that era, the new over the shoulder mechanic, made it crazy tense, and the Ganado piling in on you, was nothing like the earlier encounters. I think it more captured the tense, hectic, spirit of being overwhelmed, alone, under equipped, better than any other game. It Really affected me on my first play. No other game has ever had that affect on me. Resident Evil 2 was amazing when it first came out, and had B movie, Romero zombie horror in spades, but it didn't feel realistic like RE4 did initially. Now, that's laughable, but at the time, it was revolutionary.
The series overall has been wildly inconsistent but still very fun, with increasingly ridiculous plots. I wish they'd go back to zombie horror, and really redefine, refine, what that means. They're largely the progenitor of that in gaming, and inspired a lot of the zombie craze initially. We need a game that's set during the outbreak, doesn't side step it and lock us inside with small encounters. They could even throw masses of ammo at the player, but make it feel hopeless from the sheer amount of infected and the city falling. You could start with a full cast across a city area, and as each one falls, that part of the city area begins falling. The goal being not being overwhelmed, while managing supplies, who is trustworthy and not working against the city, to survive until rescue arrives or you find some way to safely escape. It could be persistent encounters where the real time effects comes literally spilling through, over running defenses, as the outbreak advances. Being forced to abandon your safe area, and Scramble to find a new defensible area, keeping your people alive, fighting with other survivors and lunatics while all of that's going on. If approached right, that could be the new standard
The Epic Games Store Free Games For February 20 Build the Momentum Back Up After Valentine’s Day
The games library that I've been able to build up in a very short period of time, from prime gaming, steam, epic, GOG... ETC. Just from the constant free games, is amazing. It's actually been iconic and major games from the last few cycles. The entire complete bioshock series, tons of the best Metroidvanias, a sizeable chunk of the Warhammer 40k series, and many awesome indie titles, and so so much more. It's actually made me buy more games from these storefronts, just to reciprocate the gesture. It's a great time to be a gamer. Between ultra portable small form gaming pc like the Ally, steam deck, legion go, to the inane amount of indie constantly creating new definitive examples of modern entertainment, this is the golden age of gaming
Dying Light: The Beast Going the Opposite Direction as DL2 is a Great Sign for the Series' Future
I didn't even realize it was dying lights tenth anniversary and that they were running so many events, still releasing content, and still keeping both games alive. It's impressive to say the least. I ended up buying dying light 2 during this anniversary event due to being so impressed by Techland continuing to keep the community alive. I LOVE dying light 2. Honestly, the amount of volatile at night is insane. You can't go anywhere at night without inducing a huge amount of zombies, vitals, volatiles, coming down on you and chasing you relentlessly. I'm halfway through the extremely long story, and still haven't had the courage to truly go wild at night. There are aspect of DL2 i wish they wouldn't have changed from the first game, like the xp system has been severely slowed down. It takes forever to unlock new skills now. But the game itself is more of everything from the first. It's really ridiculously fun.
From what I've read and seen, there'll be supernatural powers implemented in the Beast expansion, moving it towards fun absurdity. I'm hoping it'll be kinda like first person Control, with those insanely fun types of powers to obliterate zombies and enemies. I can't wait though. I'm now a diehard dying light fan. Didn't miss out on the tenth anniversary fun! Tons of events, freebies, bounties, and exclusive gear! Get in while you can!
RUMOR: Spider-Man 4 Script Gets A Thumbs Down From Kevin Feige
After no way home, there's honestly no way to truly do the symbiote story. They've exploded Peter's world and put him back at square one. There's no way to show the negative impacts of him struggling with increased aggression and going on a power trip. Unless they could somehow deal with undoing the effects of Strange's spell, and showing MJ and Ned fundamentally not being able to recognize Peter, and worrying about what he's becoming. But I don't really see how to narratively accomplish that and the symbiote story. They've largely forced themselves into a narrative corner, of having to reestablish Spiderman, build up his support network, and his impact on society. He's been completely forgotten, lost everything, so rebuilding has to be the focus, above all else. Just doing a macguffin reversal would significantly cheapen the journey of the first trilogy. Secret wars will most likely need to serve as the introduction of the symbiote into the mainstream marvel universe. Possibly even Doomsday could pull it off. Just randomly throwing venom in the mix, for franchise profitability, and timeline shoehorning, will only harm the IP/universe.That'sa severely loved story, that's been clamored for since Toby McGuire's first movie. Not handling it correctly, could dismantle the next trilogy before it even begins.
First Epic Games Store Free Mystery Game for December 2024 Revealed
Glad to see I'm not the only one that does this. TBH though, it's pretty amazing. When I first got into PC gaming, nothing was ever free. You had to pirate games if you ever wanted anything free. I would just to try the game out first, because you could be buying a broken, unplayable game, that wasn't worth it. It's pretty amazing all of these services are giving away such iconic, great, games. I just got back into PC gaming after more than 10 years of not playing and my backlog is tremendous, all free games from these services. All games I've always wanted to play and try out for years now
28 Years Later Gets New Spoilery Plot Details
Well, look at COVID for example, people act like it's gone, or wasn't actually a threat, but we've still got nearly the same infection numbers, death rates, and it's now to a point of rapidly mutation, spinning off variants monthly or faster. All it takes is coming into contact with the right set of genes, and it mutates into something exponentially more deadly, that we can't defend from.
The rage virus would be no different. We've seen frighteningly fast it propagated, spreads, transmits. The country could've quarantined multiple times, but a disease that fast acting, spread so easily, would very easily still be around, decimating populations, decades and centuries later, if no vaccines are found. We saw at the end of 28 weeks later, that Paris fell to the infection, imagine that overrunning the world. England, as long as there's still uninfected, would eventually come into contact with infected, and the cycle starts over, until there's next to no uninfected humans left. Think of how massive a number nearly 7,000,000,000 humans is. That's a lot of infection vectors, to sustain any super virus, for a long damned time. Especially a species like ours, that doesn't think, listen to medical experts, latches onto superstition, misinformation, self serving, self destructive, behavior patterns, all throughout it's short tenure on earth. We're a perfect incubator for any disease or aggressive virus, just due to our social and behavioral patterns.
Nine Sols: Should You Forcibly Remove the Chip?
Nine sols is amazing. It's combat system is really fun as well, although it does take a bit to truly get the rhythm and mechanics down, to seamlessly be able to not get destroyed quickly by enemies. The art, world, and story is really a cool take on the subject matter, and extremely well done. Taopunk is a genre that I never knew that we needed, but it totally works.
Now if only Biogun would come to consoles, then we'd have two of the best recent Metroidvania's to bide our time until SilkSong. Especially since we won't be getting any more Prince of Persia the Lost Crown content, which is an absolute travesty.
10 Best Metroidvania Games Available on Nintendo Switch, Ranked
Voidwrought dropped last month on the switch. It's a really fun works to explore. Very derivative of hollow Knight with some peppered Ori will of the wisps influences. It's not reinventing the wheel, but I enjoyed it. To me, it's an unfinished gem, that if the developer irons out a few wrinkles with cohesive narrative, progression, and world exploration, it would be one of my absolute favorites. It has tremendous potential. If you played Sundered and wished for more from it, but loved the Lovecraftian world and horrors aspect, this would be that game been, in terms of structure and loop. Combining the two games would be amazing.
Arterna Noctis on switch is really fun. Huge world. I couldn't put it down. Amazing graphics, fun gameplay loop, tons of secrets, but some of the bosses are extremely rigid with insane difficulty spikes. Your DPS is usually meaningless in those fights, and you can only beat it through specific pattern recognition. That was it's weakest aspect IMO. It almost made me stop playing the game twice, but I kept coming back for more punishment. The platforming is hateful. If you loved the white palace and path of pain in hollow Knight, then this is definitely your jam. Tons of loading screens though. Which it being on switch is completely understandable with it's hardware limitations.
