See AllAssassin's Creed: The Argument For a Total Franchise Reboot
I agree rather than rush through do as much as possible to gain abilities and finish... A satisfying story is a must. I began with ubisofts tenchu series and some of the assassination techniques from tenchu, seeing x-ray of dislocated joints broken bones and insertion of weapons was a great point. In Exios AC2 we always have a thief running around while busy doing something which keeps attention. Interaction with the timeline of simple everyday life of that era is a very under used element. In Odyssey there was a constant supply of everyday people needing assistance with everyday problems, valhalla had this too. Beyond special moves later introduced, the incredible emotional weight that AC2 had was hard to top in later series, that may be more of depth in script and detail to portray. It could be that was a lot of sad events combined with an effective soundtrack though, this depth was also assisted by the sequence breaks showing different themes. 10 years later showing tiredness in thE characters voice. Me being a martial artist I can see opportunity for more indepth combat, assassination technique, counters. For example dealing with opps with a lot of armor or certain tendancies. Wether to use A technique covering the voice and taking out the lung. A narrative commentary used in witcher 3 with geralts voice is very effective in creating a retrospective too.
