Sweet, another New Zealander! Good point about people camping and sniping, I didn't think of that!!!
Why DayZ's Frostline DLC is Being Review-Bombed
Firstly, thank you Dayz Devs for bringing Dayz to gamepass, doing constant FREE updates, having Livonia for a very reasonable price, then being kind enough to give that to us Xbox gamers for FREE too. I really don't understand why there are so many negative reviews, I've been rather jealous that PC gamers had a winter map and I was so excited to find out console players could experience that. After playing Dayz and exploring all of the map, it's nice to wander around a new environment and find mysterious little secrets that add to the lore, that feeling of being completely lost and stumbling across a random swan in the forest is something I thought I'd never get to experience again, it's a really cool feeling. Considering I've played Dayz alot I can see how many more hours I'd get with the new map and bought it the day it came out. It's nice to have a bit of an extra challenge too with the cold, making me change my game play a bit. Bumping into more players with the smaller map, the need to make a fire and cook fish, I've already had some interactions with random players deciding to just hang out and cook fish over the fire and team up leading to some cool adventures. I don't know too much about technical game development things and what goes into it, I do feel it must have been alot of work, new map, new assets, new temperature mechanics, new animals just to name a few. The atmosphere, especially the environmental story telling is really well thought out and gives a lived in feeling. Huddling up somewhere in a snow storm with a fire is equally relaxing and stressful, as you watch the snow fall and hope no-one sneaks up and ends you. The amazing sunsets and sunrises while standing on top of a snow capped mountain are incredible. I'm loving the familiarity of the machinics in a new, challenging map. There's already been things added, new medical and military tents and an update that has made the bunker run far more realistic, and more updates to come in the future.
