Black metal serves its purpose quite well. Weapons and shields for one and most importantly it's used for building. If you want to build up you are going to need black metal and plenty of it. Be happy you don't have to mine it, mining is boring. It's the only metal you gather while leveling your combat skills instead of your pickaxe. I'll never understand why some gamers complain over things such as this.
