Played the HD version on the Wii U never found the controls to be difficult. There is no hard and fast way to play the game. You are done being pushed through certain areas long before you get to the master sword. When in doubt follow the walk throughs littered on the internet. It is the easiest of the Zelda's as far as I've found.
