I always let my players use the HD of a Fighter for Ranger in 3.5e but now that I primarily play PF1e I let my players use both models they just have to specify they are playing as a 3.5e Ranger or a PF1e Ranger. I feel like wizards are fairly easy too I grew up on 3.5e and wizards were easily harder back then because you had to worry abour a lot more than in 5e but if I cpuld pick up Wizard at Age 8 a normal person can learn how to play a wizard in 5e
