Well the reason Joe is in New York is because Tom Lockwood was going to open an art gallery in New York for Kate and she went there after Tom Lockwood died because of it.And because of their relationship Joe went with Kate.There is definitely going to be another love interest,probably not an ex.When Joe was narrating the date announcement he was not referring to his new love interest,he was referring to the audience.So for there to be an original deep love interest I have my doubts.
