See AllThe Superman Trailer Isn't Worrying Execs, But James Gunn Says It Needs More Work
Whether the rumors are true or truth be told, the first look at James Guns Superman's Legacy doesn't inspire me with confidence. The suit being baggy and not form-fitting, whether or not it's the final version, should never have been shown. Looking at Zach Snyder and his visual eye candy is a dull comparison when put next to Gunn's vision of the man of steel. Don't get me wrong I will bet it's an entertaining and well-written story. But is it cinematic-worthy? Will my 12 bucks (Not including popcorn and candy) be worth spending? Or will I wait for it to come out on HBO Max? DC is so much different than Marvel, whereas in The House of Mouse, Marvel characters are less powerful, making them more relatable to the average reader. Peter Parker is a Spiderman but has money issues, girl issues, and more times than not doubt about his powers and whether he should use them. Superman and Batman are way too powerful and don't have the same hangups. Batman is mortal but is a genius, a billionaire, a martial artist, a Master at almost any discipline he studies, and a pretty boy who can get all the girls, a bit fantastic however he has to be to hang out with the gods of DC, each one power levels are so off the charts, they had to make their villains godlike in their powers to even compare. So the problem is how can you translate that effectively on the screen? How can you show the DC cannons vulnerability and make them relatable as well? James Gunn has a tall order.
