See AllClair Obscur: Expedition 33 Passes Impressive Milestone
I’m not a fan of turned based gaming. This might have been the one to change that, but then I watched the trailer and that ‘oooohhhh ahhhhhh, oooooHHHHH, ooooowooooohhooahhhh’ JRPG style OST immediately put me off.
No, ta, I’m good.
Anyway. Why does everything have to be souls-like these days before it’s considered to be any good? I’m so tired. Ugh. That’s a rhetorical question btw, because I really don’t care for any answers. It’ll all be souls-born Sony fanboys, going ‘ aCtUaLlY’ 🤓 so yeah, don’t bother. I delete every notif replying to me, anyway. I don’t even read them.
The Pros and Cons of Mass Effect 4 Abandoning the Normandy for a New Ship
Ah, yes. That age-old sci-fi trope - the ever present ship, the non-character that we still develop as deep a connection with as we do the crew. I applaud an open mind and willingness to accept change, however there’s a reason why there’s been 8 different versions of the USS Enterprise.
Bioware needs a sure-fire hit. They’d do well to stick with what works and improve upon it, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel - in this case a franchise. Especially if they want to feel like a direct sequel. They need to re-capture that magic. This isn’t the time to stray too far from the winning formula.
Same reason I think Shepard all the old crew should be back in some capacity. I don’t mind if they do via flashbacks, videos, clones, time travel, I don’t care. We need them all back.
Some Steam Users Are Getting the Oblivion Remaster Added to Their Libraries
It’s on-brand for Bethesda. They’ll either announce too early and then nothing for years, or Todd will stand up on stage and say, ‘Yeah, and you can play it now.’ There is no in between. Such chaotic energy, I love/hate them for it. All part of the Bethesda experience 🤷🏻♀😆
8 Unique Bosses In Bethesda Games, Ranked
I think the biggest boss in Starfield is the goddamn bounty system. I spent three nights trying to eliminate a bounty I’d accrued by accidentally forgetting I had over £20k of contraband on my ship. Everywhere I jumped, trying to clear my bounty, I was immediately attacked. I hadn’t activated the Crimson Fleet quest, so I had no access to the Key, the bounty was with the UC so the Den was hostile the minute I boarded. And my latest save was hours before. Three nights of trying to find somewhere not hostile. The UC ships over Freestar locations would immediately attack too, making it impossible to land anywhere. I ended up stashing the gear at Vlad’s place and just handing myself in. Then had to make up with my companions. 🥴😂
Ex-Starfield Developer Explains Major Reason for the Game's Missing 'Bethesda Magic'
Weird take. Just look at Red Dead Redemption 2, for example. Wildly stated to be one of the greatest games ever made, yet it also broke records, something like 2000 staff worked on RDR2. I’d say it’s not the size of the team, but the leadership that is important.
Meanwhile, only 100 or so staff who crunched and lived at their desks to create Skyrim. Some ended up in therapy and some never worked in games again.
I do think that a golden age of gaming is gone. But we can’t call for better working conditions and longer development time in one breath, and then reminisce about how the games were better back when they were the product of abuse with the next.
7 Best Open-World Games Where You Can Travel Between Planets, Ranked
I’m at a loss as to how else a game could have handled the folding of time and space, punching a hole through and turning up in an entirely different system without some kind of load screen, but hey-ho. Realistically it’d take months between planets in a system without some kind of fast travel giggery-pokerery anyway, let alone between start systems. I don’t know, I don’t get the hate for Starfield.
I would if the load screen was long, like say, the load screen you get every time you fast travel in Skyrim, or enter a house or a dungeon, but it’s really quick, at least it is on Xbox Series X, I don’t know what everyone else is playing on. Excuse my ignorance, but how else is a title meant to manage loading an area you’ve only just decided to jump to if it’s not for a loading screen? Are you seriously suggesting that the entire galaxy, including all the planet and dungeon maps need to be persistently there and running in the background all the time so jumping is just animation and that’s it? I’m not sure there’s a PC on the planet that would handle a map of that size, let alone a games console.
I just think people have ridiculously unrealistic expectations, lol
