I think the new changes are just welcome quality of life improvements to a game that is often frustrating and boring due to the amount of inventory management and travel involved. I wouldn't consider it easy mode to take advantage of these, even Elden Ring has a decent fast travel and inventory system. I still feel like the underwhelming story, lack of boss fights and interesting npc engagement make it feel undercooked, and largely held up by the excellent visual design.
