Demon Slayer Will Officially Kill Anime Forever
What the author is saying is that Demon Slayers first season came out in what, 2019, and had how many seasons (arcs), 4 I believe, not counting Mugen Train. So in 6 years, they cranked out 4 full seasons and a movie. And yay, what should be 1 more full season, we get to wait until 2029 to finally finish what most likely could have been done in 2026. By 2029, I won't care anymore about demon slayer. And after Colorado batman massacre, I see ZERO reasons to go to a movie theater and risk getting shot to see a movie that could have been released 3 years prior as an actual anime season. I'm not even gonna bother seeing the movie being released now when it hits on crunchyroll, cuz what's the point, if it's not gonna get finished for 3 more years, then there are other shows to watch. Plus movie theaters such. I'd rather watch anime on my big ass OLED with Dolby atmos surround sound at my house where I can pause it when I want, smoke a bowl, do whatever. The only people benefiting from the movies being released are the producers, not the writers or animators.
Think about it, I'm not waiting for a concert in 4, 5 years to hear an artists songs when they could just release the entire album now for me to purchase, it's asinine to wait for so long to finally hear an entire album just so the record company can rake in more money, not even the singer or performer.
So why would this be any different than that example?
Anime movies are great and all, but leave them as non-canon, not entire arcs split up across years.
AoT is a show I waited 6 or 7 years to even start the first episode cuz i wanted to wait to watch it from beginning to end. And I finally did, only to find out yet another movie was being released a year after I finished. Have I seen it yet? Not on your life. And they will never receive a dollar from me in merchandise.
I support my fav animes, I purchase merchandise as much as I can, i have probably 500+ anime figures, but only to animes that do it right
