See AllWarhammer, Age of Empires 4 Dev Relic Entertainment Goes Independent
My thoughts generally center around the number of multiplayers that are now locked out of unsupported older games that run on older operating systems from XP to Windows 7. I would have thought some smart cookies out there would have found way to bring these longtime players back into the gaming community utilizing their older hardware and original software from the disc's they purchased and used for years that now sit idle except for the single player offline mode. There must be tens of millions that would reengage if there was a platform setup to allow a variety of older OS to function like when the original THQ/Relic servers operated. Charge a fee for a monthly or yearly subscription just like is done for streaming apps for tv and other devices. Star Link alone has made millions of less than good connective speeds available for the older hardware/OS gamer. If putting together a platform to remedy this issue for the older gamers to get reenaged and relegated to the porch isn't in the future plans for the current online gaming providers than maybe Elon Musk can put together a team to develop a platform that will accomplish to fulfill this need for older gamers using older OS and Star Link and turn a good profit to Boot.
