See AllDave Filoni Deserves Some Blame For The State Of Star Wars
I don't know that anyone asked for The Acolyte and yet it has been received poorly. People asked for more Boba Fett yet it has been received poorly. Andor has been well received yet I fell asleep in half of the episodes. The Mandalorian was well enough received in the first seasons because it was different but good storytelling? It's almost devoid entirely and goes for "cheap tricks" as this article says or rather spectacle is more appropriate. Most Star Wars movies are poorly viewed by fans, from Star Wars VI to the prequels to the sequels with the exception of Episode VII which had the most fan-service.
Ahsoka and Obi-Wan shows are fan-service and are among the most well received shows. Rogue One could also be deemed fan-service for obvious reasons and is among the best-received movies since Disney acquired Star Wars.
In truth, if you're talking about reception, fan-service is about the only thing Star Wars fans seem to truly care about. Expanding this universe while pleasing the fans is an impossible task. Impossible. Star Wars fans are about the worst fans in all of the fandoms.
