I don't think that will be the case with this game. As you pointed out pal world did well because the recent Pokémon releases had been lackluster, that is not the case with metroidvanias as there is a glut of quality titles both recent releases and coming soon.

Crowsworn is far more like a rival to hollow knight silksong in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of pocket pair as they have more or less admitted they copy popular games then tack on a couple of mechanics from other games. Seems a bit creatively bankrupt to me.
