Umm what about Hunter Hunter. Am I perhaps missing something cause Gon sure as hell doesn't sound Japanese and the setting doesn't look Japanese either. Honestly this was the first anime I noticed that wasn't looking Japanese and had weird names so.... It's also implied in the show when you look at how words are written it you'll see!!
