See AllHow Marvel Rivals' Scarlet Witch Compares to Her MCU Adaptation
Hi, Megan. I’m a fellow writer & nerd.
Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver were never Ashkenazi or any other kind of Jewish, and do not really identify as such.
They were established as canonically Romani all the way back in 1979. Even Magneto’s first canonical origin was he was revealed as Polish Sinti (French & Germanic Romani) all the way back in 1993/'94.
It wasn’t until a decade later, that when Bryan Singer decided to Whitewash them, that they were made White Ashkenazi Jewish.
Later, in December of 2014, it was revealed that Magneto had kidnapped them and was not their biological father, and that they were in fact, still fully Central & Eastern European Roma “all along.”
This was then further explored in the solo series, Scarlet Witch (2015–2017) & the mini-series, Quicksilver: No Surrender (2018).
They still embrace the Ancient Hind & Buddhist traditions & beliefs of most Rom while still celebrating & observing various Jeudo-Christian holidays, as They were also heavily exposed to Catholicism, too.
All of this is easily confirmable and I personally know current & former heads & top creators at Marvel.
Also, unlike other users who claim to be “Romani,” I am actually fully Roma and was born in & adopted from Hungary and have been reading & collecting comics for over 25 years.
