See All'The Stand Isn't About Randall Flagg' Mike Flanagan's Comments On Stephen King's Masterpiece Make Me Feel More Optimistic About The Upcoming Movie
I think the Stand could be a good film at 3 hrs or less. There is a lot of the book that doesn't need to be visualized in a film. That's where some adaptations get in trouble with Kings work, they think they need put every little part or characters even in the film when not necessary. Film is an adaptation not a complete filming of the novel, filmmakers should want to make it their own a little too and just keep themes and overall story in tact but in their own ways. The Stand novel has so many different characters that do not need to be introduced in the film and that alone will help size down length. The right writers and filmmakers can do it but so many times that isn't the case.
