Meh, for some of us it's not about being a fanboy/fangirl, it's just that my biggest collection of games is on Steam. I have 500+ free games on Epic, but my Steam library is significantly bigger than that (meaning that I may already own a majority of the games on Steam through my Humble sub). I still play the odd game I get for free on Epic, but I buy for Steam.
I don't think Epic were trying to win over the likes of me with their giveaways (I'm a millennial). I think it's meant to appeal to the younger generations who won't have the money to buy their own games yet. If they have a large enough free library, the likelihood is that they'll add to it when they start earning.
So the rabid fanboys who go all mad at Epic are not the target audience at all. That's why I don't think they're going to care about them and just keep churning out the freebies until it's no longer needed.
Epic Games Store User Who Has Never Bought a Game Shows Off Their Incredible Collection
I have 538 Games on my Epic account and haven't bought a single one (Okay maybe 1 since it was to support the dev). A few of them are from my Prime sub that I have for 2 years, but most are from Epic itself. I think I missed like 1 or 2 of the Epic freebies.
That's why 200 isn't that impressive haha!
