99% of Samurai back then were men. There's nothing wrong with being female or using a female protagonist, but to make this character one is simply an inclusion choice. Their last game was a huge success, they didn't have to change anything. Doing so is just taking an unnecessary risk. And you insulting men's masculinity for wanting a male protagonist in a combat driven game is fine, but we'll see how the sales compare to the first game.
