I never played the older fable games (I'm not sure why, I went back and played other games from the era but never Fable) so idk if the new game is tonally correct for it's franchise but based on the trailer it looks fun at least from a writing sense. The humor has this very dry-but-zanny quality to it that I liked, reminded me of British comedy from like the 90s/2000s, weirdly enough

I was also really visually impressed by it, (some of the faces looked almost live action) even if I'm kind of tired of hyper-realistic graphics in games (weren't the Fable game originally kind of cartoony? Maybe I'm confused them for something else lol)

I'm honestly surprised this filmmaker draws the line anywhere in terms of murder lol. Tbh I'm a huge fan of full-on splatterpunk personally (in general I prefer more cerebral/psychological/existential horror than just gore and jumpscares all on their own), so I haven't seen any of the Terrifiers, it's mostly cultural osmosis for me

Oh God... I really hope he just means the new game just try a different, more up to date kind of comedy. Borderlands trying a new comedic angle might be fun, but BL4 taking itself seriously would be... Not a trend the games should jump on

To me they look weirdly generic and subdued for a borderlands games

Remember Zer0? Gaige? Athena? That cool ice lady who's name i forget? Like these games have pretty distinct design themes for each class

These guys all kinda look like... Each other. Like they sorta blender in together rather than looking really distinct

Of course that could just be for a story reason, and it doesn't necessarily mean the game is gonna be bad, but I hope there not taking the series in a more "realistic" or "serious" direction because that's just not what these games are, they're very eccentric and colorful, always figuratively and often literally

I think as cool as this would be, TES6 has already been delayed a lot, and this level of realism in world building, while immersive, takes a lot of time, in terms of game development

It would be really cool, but at this point I don't think they have the time for this crazy attention to detail

Either way, the base game needs to be better than Starfield 😬

I find it kind of weird Iron Lung hasn't inspired a whole new genre of horror games. You'd think it'd start the same cycle as Amnesia or FNaF with "horror game that shakes up the genre until it gets copied to into the ground"

But that hasn't really happened with Iron Lung, unless you count "PSX Horror" but that's more of a 90s rival and extremely broad

Probably a good thing though, it's a really well-made piece of horror media and it'd kind suck if it's legacy was tainted

Fun(?) Fact: the Jynx blackface thing was actually a really unfortunate cultural misunderstanding. In Japan there was a subculture of Japanese women and girls who were super into tanning, to the extent they went to extreme lengths to get as tan as possible, and they also wore poppy make up and flashy clothes

This was what Jynx was based off of, and the black face was meant to be a stylized representation of a very tan face. Not a lot of ppl in Japan have a naturally complexion, so in that culture it made sense

Of course, in America we have a troubled history of minstrel shows where black ppls culture was stolen and misappropriated, so when Americans saw the blacked out face and red lipstick, we didn't see it like a tan woman with flashy clothes and makeup, but just something that was really racist and fucked up

But itd be wild work on he the early Pokemon media and to have the translator be like "hey uhh Akira, so that Pokemon based on those tan girls, uh- ok I'm gonna have to briefly explain the history of racial oppression in a foreign country neither of us have ever been to for this to make any sense-"

(Btw idk who redesigned Jynx or what their name was, I just chose Akira cause it's the only common Japanese name I know lol)

I've never seen the crow or it's remake but like... This can't be the it was bad. Like, 90s aesthetic are back in vogue now. Metal is still very much a thing and 90s nu metal is huge rn even outside the metalhead community. If I had to guess, this remake was the decision of some execs or producers who understand movies as a means of profit and not, you know, works of narrative art. That's what most blockbusters are now, sadly:/

At least indie films can still be good, and A24 is keeping the art house/mid budget stuff alive. Have you seen Everything Everywhere All At Once? That's shit rips. Go watch it instead of a remake:P
