See AllNew PS5 Pro Model and DualSense V3 Details Leak Online
The PS5 Pro came out way too soon. If there had been no pandemic and the PS5 launch window had been a normal console launch, this probably would have been an appropriate time. Considering how many people likely only had a PS5 for a couple of years when they released it, though, they probably would have been better off just skipping a Pro version this generation.
Rumor: PS6 Console Could Launch with Detachable Disc Drive
I don't really see the point anymore. I still enjoy collecting for the PS2/GC/XB1 generation and prior (PS3 as well as an exception, mostly due to the fact so many games are only available via streaming on modern consoles), but physical media is pretty useless these days. At best, you're buying a likely broken game that won't work without immediate day-one patches. At worst, all you did was buy a digital code in a box that requires you to insert a disc to play your game.
The more I think about it, though, the more I realize that most of my gaming is decidedly non-AAA these days anyway, so the only chance of a physical release would be something like Limited Run Games. I actually don't mind these either, as they usually release well after the game was initially released, so the disc actually has a full working game on it.
Physical Game Sales Are Down in the US
Considering how everything requires an immediate download anyway, I don't see much reason to stick with physical. I'd be pretty much entirely digital at this point if it weren't for the fact that so many physical titles get better sale prices than digital copies.
One Accolade Shows Monster Hunter Wilds May Not Need to Worry About a Crowded Launch Window
As a massive Trails fan, I wouldn't even count that as competition here. Even ignoring that it's increased in popularity quite a bit, the Trails series isn't on par with AAA releases. On top of that, this is the second game in the current arc, so I'd say anyone planning on playing it already knows they'll be doing so. I don't like cliffhangers, so I'm waiting for Farewell, O Zemuria to reach the US before I go through the arc, though I still picked up the CEs for both since I adore this series.
Also, I'm still waiting on my Laura, Sara, and Juna figures, Kotobukiya. Get on it.
