See AllLonglegs Director Oz Perkins Might Not Want A Sequel, But I'd Love A Second Movie To Address Some Flaws
First I need to say that this was one of the best horror movies I have seen in decades. The psychological aspect was something that most recent films lack. Longlegs is what your worst nightmares are made of. The voice, the highs and lows, the laugh, spontaneous singing, reciting pieces of song lyrics; he was all over the place yet it all made sense; I easily followed him, and that too was frightening. I may be the only one to say this, I knew Nicholas Cage was in the movie, and at first, because he is an A List actor, I was waiting to see what role he had. I knew nothing about any of the roles, the characters in this film, only that I was told it was something to see. I expected Nicholas Cage would appear as an FBI agent and I’m not sure when I realized he had been there all along, but I was stunned. Even when I realized he was Longlegs, I still could not see it; he was transformed and I was transfixed. I am still in awe of his performance.
I need a sequel. I actually interpreted the ending differently than my daughter. Because Lee was out of bullets, she was unable to shoot the doll that possessed the evil that had already destroyed the parents and did connect with Ruby. My interpretation was she was now protecting Ruby so she would not die, as her mother protected her, thus she would now have to do as her mother did so Ruby remained safe.
No matter what, I want more and I would love it to include the Longlegs character with Nicholas Cage. I’m serious in saying that was a stellar performance. The hand motions too - he was the absolute best of the horror characters I have ever seen. I’m going to watch it again and again just to watch him create this being. Best Ever!
